The weather gods threw everything at us on Saturday, so Brian Purcell , Bob Wauchope and myself (Geoff Jenke) made a few contingency plans for the Sunday Social Day, but the golfing gods smiled upon us on Sunday. It was cool and the name Mawson Lakes lived up to itself, with many “lakes” around the course, but no rain.
26 intrepid souls turned up, approximately half of which not members, which was great. (we had 32 on the list) We soon got them out on the course chasing the little white ball. There were a lot of comments on how hard it was with a lot of bogeys and double bogeys being mentioned. Personally I couldn’t see what they were complaining about as I just went out and played alone and if in the comp would of come third, all without a partner. Loving my “new” driver. At the end of the day it was Ben Smith and Alan Westbury with the Best off the Stick score of 74 and Adrian Cutting and Dan Bailey winning the Handicap section with a nett 66. Herb Clark tried to win the NAGA but got “beaten” by the last group in. Full results on notice board.
We also had a Hole In One. New member Adrian Cutting, aced the 13th Hole.
In very trying conditions, Kevin Polkinghorne has taken out the Optigen Monthly Medal with a nett 68 on a countback from country member, Anthony Wessling. Congratulations to Kevin.
